How does the payment work for lessons?Tuition is calculated using the total number of eligible teaching days for the whole school year (September-June). A calendar will be sent out prior to the start of lessons so families can see when there are no scheduled lessons such as winter break. This number is then multiplied by the lesson rate and averaged over the 10 months to create equal monthly payments. The exact monthly payment amount will be confirmed in writing via email prior to the start of lessons. Tuition is due on the 1st of each month. We also offer the option to pay by semester, with payments due on the first day of each semester (September-January and February-June). The two payments may not the same depending on how many lesson days/holidays are in each semester. We're happy to answer any questions you may have about payment!

When can my child enrol in the Royal Conservatory of Music exam program?Students who are interested in enrolling in the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) examination program can do so after they have completed the required foundational learning level of study. Typically, completion up to the Piano Adventures Level 1 is required before transitioning to the RCM program. Several other factors are taken into consideration when determining a student's readiness for the RCM program such as: Confidence in counting while playing Independence in reading music Patience Focus Consistency in practice routine Openness to learn the process and material These factors are important because the RCM program requires a higher level of technical and musical proficiency. Our teachers will assess each student individually to determine if they are ready to enroll in the RCM program and provide guidance and support to help them reach their goals.

How often do lessons take place? Our lessons run every week, but there are some days when there are no scheduled lessons. For instance, there are breaks during the school year, such as winter break and spring break. We closely follow the Calgary Board of Education traditional calendar, and a calendar of lesson dates will be sent out prior to the start of lessons and is also available on our website. This will provide families with a clear understanding of when lessons will take place and when there will be no scheduled lessons. Please review the lesson calendar carefully to avoid confusion and ensure that your child does not miss any lessons.

How much practice is required each week?Consistency is key to making progress in music, and we work with each student to create a practice plan that fits their needs and goals. Generally, beginner students ages 7 and under are encouraged to practice at least 15 minutes every other day, while students over 7 or at an intermediate level should aim for 30 minutes of daily practice. Students preparing for RCM examinations may require more practice time. However, we understand that every student has different commitments and schedules, so our teachers will tailor the practice plan to each individual student and their goals.

What is your cancellation policy? We require our students to provide at least 48 hours' notice for cancellations. If a student cancels with less than 48 hours' notice, they will not be eligible for a make-up lesson. However, we understand that unexpected circumstances can arise, so our instructors can try to arrange a make-up lesson only if their schedule allows. Please note that this is not guaranteed. Our aim is to provide a fair and reasonable cancellation policy that is respectful towards our students and our instructors.
